AmCham Shanghai members attended a California wine tasting event on Friday, October 16 at the Four Seasons Hotel with Michael Cohen, Deputy Mayor of San Francisco, and members of the ChinaSF Advisory Board.
Members enjoy a fine selection of Californian wines at an AmCham Shanghai wine tasting event on Oct. 16. | Cohen spoke briefly on the long history of partnership between Shanghai and its sister city San Francisco and discussed ChinaSF, a new economic development office set up to help Chinese businesses set up offices in San Francisco. The organization is intended to be a key gateway for Chinese companies to establish a foothold in San Francisco, and aims to be a platform for sharing ideas and services, said Cohen. He also emphasized San Francisco’s strengths in the fields of biotechnology, greentech, digital media, and tourism, and the importance in attracting companies from those particular industries.
Afterwards, members enjoyed a selection of premium California wines from wine suppliers Alexander Minn Wine Group and California-China Wine Trading Company.

Michael Cohen from the San Francisco Mayor’s office will deliver brief comments on the deepening relationship between China and San Francisco. Members of the ChinaSF Advisory Board, including Shui On Chairman Vincent Lo, Qiming Venture Partners Gary Rieschel and Hina Group Managing Director Ker Gibbs, will also be present.
