Event Summary
AmCham Shanghai held its annual Independence Day celebration on Saturday, July 4 at the scenic Le Meridien She Shan Resort. Enjoying the traditions of the classic American summer holiday, AmCham members, their families and friends enjoyed an action-packed day complete with indoor and outdoor games and activities, a kid’s parade, live music and dancing to classic American hits, and food and drinks from some of Shanghai’s best restaurants. U.S Consul General Bea Camp and Murray King, Secretary of the AmCham Shanghai Board of Governors, kicked off the event with welcome remarks.
Activities such as a jumping castle, three-legged races, a watermelon-eating contest, and a T-shirt drawing competition were a huge hit for children and adult participants alike. Children also had a chance to participate in a kid’s parade and a kid’s fashion show.
The Studio 188 Band entertained guests with classic and modern American hits, while guests enjoyed dining on American favorites such as burgers, hot dogs, pizza, pork ribs, chicken wings, and ice cream.
The Fourth of July Celebration also featured a lucky draw, where guests had a chance to win a range of prizes including spa and massage gift certificates, fine wines, luxury hotel stays, restaurant vouchers, and a grand prize of two United Airlines round-trip tickets for travel to the U.S.
