Shanghai Charity Foundation [Varied\General Charity]
 
  SCF was founded in 1994 and its current leading body is the 3rd Executive Council consisting of 23 executives including President, Vice Presidents and Members of the Council. SCF is made up of the Donation Committee, Relief and Aid Committee, Publicity and Cultural Committee, Asset Management Committee, Supervisory Committee, Zhongren Service Center, Shanghai Charity Material Management Center, Charity Education and Training Center, Research Center for the Development of Shanghai Charity Undertakings, Fraternity (a periodical) and 19 branches in various districts and one county. The registered capital of SCF has reached RMB408.8 million yuan. The contributions from enterprises, people of all walks of life, compatriots from Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, and overseas friends have amounted to RMB1.15 billion yuan, with RMB610 million yuan used for various charitable projects so far. SCF's major task is to assist the government in making good omissions and deficiencies.

Loving Care Lunch
Loving Care Lunch, since August 1995 has provided lunch to low income students throughout Shanghai.

Paediatric Operation for Congenital Heart Disease
Launched jointly by Shanghai Charity Foundation, Shanghai Children's Health Foundation, Shanghai Children’s Medical Center and Children’s Hospital in January 2003, this program is designed to fund the operations of children who would not otherwise be able to afford them. So far, 55 children have undergone the successful operations. Children undergo the operation at one of the two designated hospitals: Shanghai Children’s Medical Center and Children’s Hospital. RMB30,000 yuan is required for each child to undergo the treatment, including both the operation fee and the recovery fee.

Support for Needy Students
Financial aid for students that qualify for the low income bracket in Shanghai, with familes that have a per-capita income of RMB300.00 - 450.00 yuan/month. This financial aid goes to needy students in each level of school, from elementary school to university. The aid will help to pay for school miscellaneous fees, lunches and the purchase of school supplies. The subsidy for university and senior high school students will be used for tuition fees, miscellaneous fees, and other necessary living expenses.

Charity Medical Care Card
Designed to support elderly who do not have medical insurance. The recipients to be confirmed by the branches of the SCF and to pass a review each year with adjustment if necessary. The Number of Recipients: In 2005, 35,000 medical care cards will be issued. As the actual demand for the card is about 70,000 each year, the project still needs the support from all walks of life so as to provide more assistance to the needy elderly. RMB500 yuan per person annually is needed to support these patients, and the project has been implemented in 19 districts (including one county) with designated out-patient departments stationed in 285 hospitals and community public health centers. Benefits include the following: Free registration and medical treatment; Discounted charges for medical checkup and drugs; Free medical treatment by specialists in charitable activities sponsored by SCF. Means of contribution: 1. Contribution of funds 2. Contribution of pharmaceutical and medical products 3. Contribution of medical instruments


  - Opportunities for In-Kind Assistance

Accepting material donation
Shanghai Charity Material Management Center, with its 29 branches located in various districts and one county and 105 donation centers in district committees, is responsible for collecting, sterilizing, packing, transporting, warehousing and distributing relief supplies to local and nationwide disaster-stricken and needy groups according to demand. Part of the donation supplies, after being properly processed, can be liquidated so as to contribute to the charity undertakings.
