 | Fu'an Microfinance Program |
| Mercy Corps (MC) will provide technical and financial support to its local partner, the China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation (CFPA). The aim of this donation would be to support the development of the Fuan Microfinance program, which overcomes poverty by responsibly providing a sustainable microfinance program and vocational training. This will be done through support for rural economic development, including: assisting with financial needs, market linkages and information dissemination, technical assistance and related community development activities, centered around solidarity groups. The project is targeted to build the capacity of CFPA in Fuan, to enable it to serve a client base of over 8,000 beneficiaries, achieve operational self-sufficiency in four years, and meet CFPA's repayment rate benchmark of at least 95%.
Mercy Corps will help in: developing the strategic plan; training in community mobilisation; mid-level management (monitoring/evaluation, management, financial analysis); updating operational policies and procedures, accounting, MIS, group lending and collection procedures; developing and implementing a training plan for professional growth; market research; and reviewing and evaluating effectiveness of CFPA training programs and structures. In addition, key CFPA personnel will be selected to visit other Microfinance Institutions in China and Mercy Corps' microcredit operations in other countries and to attend international training conferences.
