AFS Intercultural Programs Inc.(Intercultural Exchange/Voluntary) |
| |
| |
AFS (formerly American Field Service) is one of oldest and largest, nonprofit, intercultural exchange organizations in the world. In Shanghai, AFS is partnered with The Jane Goodall Institute – Roots & Shoots Shanghai. The AFS mission is to build a more just and peaceful world through intercultural exchange and learning. Internationally, our core program is a one-year long high school student exchange program to more than 50 different AFS partner countries around the world. Students stay with host families and in local schools. Every year, AFS exchanges more than 11,000 program participants internationally and has more than 30,000 volunteers worldwide.
Another one of our core programs, the AFS Community Service Program (CSP) is an outstanding opportunity for foreign young adults (aged 18-29) to learn more about Chinese culture and language while positively contributing to Chinese society through volunteer work in local nonprofits. The foreign participants come to China for a period of 5-6 months while living in a local host family. |

 | Volunteer Exchange Contributions |
| As a volunteer based organization, AFS provides opportunities to empower Chinese youth and adults alike in order to achieve “peace through intercultural understanding.”Volunteer exchange trips to other AFS countries provides an opportunity for Chinese volunteers to learn and exchange ideas with others.
In the past we had short-term volunteer exchange to Hong Kong and Germany. We would like to give more volunteers these opportunities and appreciate contributions or donations of frequent flier miles.
